Purple Island boasts over 4,000 years of archaeological history. Around 3,000 years ago, it was a center for producing purple dye extracted from murex snails — remnants of which can still be found scattered across the island in the form of their distinctive shells. The island’s name is also inspired by the vibrant purple flowers that bloom across the landscape each spring, adding to its natural charm and historical significance.

Captured in September 2018, this image beautifully showcases one of Doha, Qatar’s premier tourist attractions.
